    2. Usually it is so crowded that I can’t find anywhere to sit.(= Usually it is too crowded for me to find anywhere to sit.)(地铁里)通常是如此拥挤以致我常常找不到地方坐。
    so … that 表示 “如此……以致……”,引导结果状语从句,that在从句中不充当成分。so的后面一般接以下几种形式:
    ① so + 形容词或副词 + that… 如:
    1) He is so poor that he cannot afford an egg.他穷得连一个鸡蛋都买不起。
    2) The little boy missed his mother so much that he cried all the night.这个小男孩如此地思念他的母亲以致他哭了一晚上。
    ② so + 动词 + that… 如:
    We have so arranged matters that one of us is always on duty.我们已作好安排使得总有我们中的一人在值班。
    ③ so + 形容词+ a/an + 名词(单数可数) + that… 如:
    He is so naughty a boy that no one likes him.他太淘气了,每人喜欢他。
    ④ so + many/few + 名词(可数复数) + that… 如:
    The boy had had so many falls that he was black and blue all over.  这男孩子摔得那么重以至于全身都是青一块紫一块的。
    ⑤ so + much/little + 名词(不可数) + that… 如:
    He had received so little education that he could hardly write his own name. 他受的教育太少,连自己的名字都不会写。
    注意:such...that 也表示“如此……以致……”,一般情况下, such 后面接上述几种情况以外的名词。如:such a naughty boy , such water, such men, such lovely weather等。
    3.I spend all morning adding up numbers and checking accounts.整个上午我要计算数字, 核对帐目。
    ① spend句型中一般用 somebody 作主语。主要用于以下两种句型:
    spend …(time/money) on sth
    spend …(time/money) (in) doing sth  这里的in常可省略。如:
    He spent so much of his time spying on the neighbours. 他花许多时间来窥探邻居。
    His whole income was spent on books.他的全部收入用来买书。
    We spent nearly twenty years on the project.我们在这个工程上花了近二十年时间。
    ② add的一些常用搭配:
    1) add up 把……加起来, 计算……的总和
    Add up these figures and see if the sum is correct. 把这些数字加起来, 看一下总数是否正确。
    2) add to 增添,增加
    These pictures add to the interest of the book.这些图片使这本书更有趣。
    3) add…to…把……加入……
    Add some more wood to the fire. 往火里再加些木柴。
    4) add up to 总计,总数达
    His debts added up to two million dollars. 他的债务累计达到两百万元。
    4.We take a weekend break there whenever we get the chance, when I am not too busy on the farm. 只要农场活不太多,我们会抓住机会到那儿度周末。
    ① take a weekend break 度周末。 break 意思是“休息,间歇”。 又如:
    take a break=have a break 休息一会儿
    Let’s take a 15-minute break. 咱们休息15分钟。
    ② whenever we get the chance = no matter when we get the chance 无论什么时候有机会,whenever conj. “每当,无论何时”,引导让步状语从句。如:
    1) Whenever we met with difficulties, they came to help us. 每当我们遇到困难时,他们总来帮助我们。
    2) Drop in whenever you can.你什么时候有空就过来坐坐。
    5. How does she feel about … ? = How does she find ( like ) … ? = What does she think of … ?
    6. It’s easy to say … / It’s a pity that … / It’s a wonder that … / It’s no wonder that … = No wonder that … / It’s said that … / It’s well-known that …
    7. There is no doubt that … / There is no need to do
    8. That’s what …
    eg. Columbus reached what we call America now.
    What was called impossible is possible.
    9. before
    eg.  Do it before you forget.
    It will be 2 days befoere we meet again.
    He had left before I said something.

    1. share sth. with sb. : I’ll share ( in ) the cost with you.
    2. include / contain : The book contains 3 units, including unit diary.
    3. serve the people heart and soul
    Tea is served with milk in England.
    He serves as a waiter.
    4. tears : be sentenced to death  /  be moved to tears
