Step4 Assignment
1. Recite the new words and read the poem fluently with feelings.
 2.Finish the exercises in the workbook.
 3.Find out some other poems about pets on the Internet.
 
The Third Period
Content: Reading 2
Teaching aims:
1. Further understanding the poems about pets.
     2.To recognize and identify a range of animal features
3.To use appropriate nouns and verbs when describing the appearance and characteristics of different types of animals.
Language points:
“All” rhyme with “wall”.
Cats sleep on/in/on top of…...
My cat is very friendly.
Some people are afraid of Eddie.
His blue and green feathers look so beautiful in the sun.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1.Revision
Revise the vocabulary in the poems by giving the definitions.
Let Ss answer questions about the poems.
Revise the key words phrases and sentences .
1.       My dog is the cleverest animal of all.
eg: He is the tallest of the three.
The boy is the best player in the school team.
2.       With eyes open wide, he hunts when I hide.
eg: Fish sleep with their eyes open.  
I opened the door with my knife.
3.       He does wonderful tricks.
eg: Simon lets his little dog do all kinds of tricks.
Don’t try any tricks.
The man can play card tricks
4.       He’d never bark or bite.
eg: He doesn’t like swimming or shopping.
5.       He builds me camps out of sticks.

eg: We can make a kite out of some paper.
6.       Some people are afraid of Eddie.
be afraid of…    eg. Kitty is afraid of snakes.
be afraid to do…  eg. The little girl is afraid to gout at night.
be afraid that…   eg. I’m afraid that I can’t go to your party this evening.

Step 2 Act out the poems
Ask students to read the poems loudly together in groups.
Then ask some to act it out with feelings.
Step3 Discussion.
Showing pictures about some more pets. Let Ss discuss the pets’ lifestyles, including feeding habits, homes, likes and dislikes in groups.
Then ask some to talk about “how to keep a pet” in class.
Step4.Assignment:
1.         Revise what we learned from P90-93 and remember the new words.
2.         Writing “My favourite pet”.
3.         Do some exercises.

Ⅲ.Teaching Aims:
To use positive and negative imperative when giving orders and instructions
To recognize and understand how to use imperatives appropriately
To use the modals” must” “ought to” and “should” to talk about duties and responsibilities.
Ⅳ.Important and Difficult Points:
Positive instruction :Walk the dog at 7:00 a.m.
Negative instruction: Don’t chase the cat.
Ⅴ.Teaching Procedures:
Step 1. Warming up.
1)      Make a survey.
Talk to Ss about the purpose of instructions.
Give them a few examples using classroom situations. Write some instructions on the Bb.
Classroom-----sit down/open the door/be quiet/stop talking/
Fire drill-----Don’t run./Don’t take the lift/
Step 2. Presentation.
1)Say the whole sentences:
eg:the speaker wants to attract Mary’s attention and so he/she says:”mary. Don’t push./Don’t push,Mary.”
Make sure Ss understand the imperative form and avoid the common mistake of placing a pronoun in front of the imperative.
 
2)      Work in pairs
Ask the partner more questions like above , then report to the class.
Step 3. Practice.
1)        Work alone.(Part A1)
2)        Get the students to report themselves like above.
3)        Talk about the sentences freely. in pairs.
Sum up:
Step 4. Consolidation:
Ask Ss to work in pairs to select the correct words to fill each gap.then match the pictures with the instructions.When they have finished,ask them to read each instruction to their partner.
Step 5. Extension.
Step 6. Homework:
 Ex A on page 95 of the book.
 
The Fifth Period
 
Ⅰ.Content:

Using “should ”/ “ought to”/must to talk about sth..
II.Teaching Aims:
1.      To learn how to use “should ”/ “ought to”/must
III.Important and Difficult Points:
The differences between ““should ”/ “ought to”/”must”
IⅤ.Teaching Procedures:
Step 1. Revision. Talk about situations involving duty and obligation. Try to link them to the context of the Beijing Sunshine Secondary School who are talking about looking after pets.
It is useful to point out to Ss that we can use these modals to give instructions.
Step 2. Presentation.
1.      Fill in the blanks.
2.      Work in pairs to talk about something that.Report to the class.
3.      Explain:
If we think something is sure to happen, We’d better use “must”.
    eg.I saw Mr Yang in the library a moment ago. He must(一定) be in the school now.(Get the students to give more examples)

Step 7.Extension.
Suppose the class has to choose a class monitor. Ask what are his/her duties?
